Year 6 recently had the opportunity to experience life as medieval lords, ladies, servants, priests and peasants, taking part in a hands-on medieval life workshop. The year group were split into four households, tasked with completing a range of challenges to score the most points. Amongst the fun of each challenge, Year 6 learnt about everyday medieval life, ranging from the fashion of the time, trade guilds, and the impacts of the black death. Once a household had finally emerged victorious, the boys had the chance to learn about and concoct their own medieval medicine, while also trying on a whole range of medieval battle armour. Enjoyable experiences such as this really do enhance the pupils’ learning and allows them to bring their historical understanding to life.
