On a wet Saturday morning six teams arrived at Swyncombe Playing Fields eager to play our rugby tournament. Spectators lined up pitch side excited to see the action.
It started off well for Durston as spirits were high and tries were being scored but after only a few minutes one of our key players got injured. The remainder of the match was a battle to find out who would emerge on top. Durston led with only a few minutes left but sadly the opposition were able to score, tying the match.
As soon as we walked onto the pitch for the second match we were intimidated by the size of the other team but we valiantly kept going. They used their size and strength to quickly get a lead without us really being able to fight back. We ended up getting a few tries but it was not enough and they won the game.
In the next game we played we tried to solve the errors we had, this worked well as we were able to neutralise their attack and were able to cut through their lines when we were attacking. Our improved game was good, and we were able to win the match.
After the previous games we were plagued with injury, it was so bad we only had one substitute. Even though the odds were not in our favour we still tried hard but were physically out matched and they beat us convincingly.
As we entered the pitch for our final match we were all ready to try our hardest. It was a close game and we were able to score a few tries later on in the game allowing us to win.
