U11A Durston House Rugby Tournament 2023

On Saturday 4 March, Durston House hosted the annual U11A Rugby Tournament. The day started cold and wet but that didn’t stop the teams and their supporters all turning up enthusiastically to participate. Durston had not won this since 2015 but hopes were high.

The Durston team were up against four other teams which were The Hall School, Orley Farm School, Arnold House School and Hill House School. These have all been very strong teams throughout the season so Durston knew that we had to play at our very best!

The matches started as the rain cleared and luckily the ground wasn’t too wet. Durston’s first opponents were Arnold House who looked tough to beat. There was some excellent passing, scrums and tackling seen and Durston took an early lead. We continued to be the dominant team and the final score was a well-deserved 15-5. We then went on to play Orley Farm School where Daniel W scored an amazing hat trick with the support of the other members of the team. This was particularly impressive as Orley Farm School were the previous champions and Daniel W did a fantastic run almost the entire length of the pitch much to the supporters delight.

Durston went on to play The Hall School and again were victorious and in this game the score at the end was 20-0, before we finally faced Hill House School. This proved to be the most difficult match with multiple scrums on both try lines and it was a very closely fought match. In the end, Durston proved too strong for them and the final score was 15-10. So Durston house were the WINNERS! The U11 team was very impressive having won all their matches and demonstrated amazing team work. We conducted ourselves impeccably and deserved to be unbeaten throughout the tournament. Team captain Seb A proudly held the trophy aloft to lots of cheers from all the teams.

Well done Durston.
