Celebrating Diversity at Durston House: The First Ever International Food Fair

The Durston House Parents Association (DHPA) proudly hosted its inaugural International Food Fair, a vibrant event celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our school community. The fair was a resounding success, drawing families, pupils, and staff together for an unforgettable afternoon of culinary exploration and cultural exchange.

From the moment you entered the fair, the air was filled with tantalizing aromas and the sounds of laughter and conversation. Over 10 stalls, each representing a different country, showcased an array of traditional dishes prepared with love by our very own parents and staff. The diversity of flavours was astounding, with offerings ranging from spicy Indian curries and fragrant Thai noodles to an English sausage roll and delectable scones.

The event was more than just a gastronomic delight; it was a true celebration of our school’s inclusive spirit. Pupils proudly donned traditional attire from their respective cultures, and the fairground was adorned with colourful decorations and flags from around the world. The sense of pride and unity was palpable, as families from different backgrounds came together to celebrate what makes each of us unique.

The first-ever International Food Fair at Durston House was a testament to the strength and diversity of our community. It was a day filled with joy, learning, and, of course, delicious food. We look forward to making this an annual tradition, continuing to celebrate the beautiful mosaic of cultures that enrich our school. Thank you to the DHPA, our wonderful parents, and everyone who participated in making this event a spectacular success.
