Learning Support
Academic
Our aim is for pupils to become independent learners who can embrace their studies, confident in the notion that they are supported by specialists who understand their needs and who can enable them to thrive academically, preparing them for a world beyond Durston.
Throughout Durston, our Learning Support Team liaise closely with subject or class teachers to ensure that each child’s need are fully understood and are accommodated in the classroom.
“My children are receiving a fantastic holistic education, which covers much more than academic success.”

Learning Support sessions primarily aim to support the development of Literacy. When indicated, a specific programme is planned and delivered by specialist teachers. This is arranged following discussions with parents and is offered without any additional cost. The Head of Pre-Prep and the Assistant Head (Academic), working closely with the Head of Learning Support, are all available to discuss individual requirements. Parents are actively encouraged to work closely with the Learning Support Team to secure the best possible outcome for their child.
